“Keep Bellevue Beautiful,” a city effort to work with the community to keep Bellevue litter-free, is featured in the summer-fall issue of It’s Your City, which is going to all residential and business addresses in Bellevue this week.
The Keep Bellevue Beautiful initiative will include community cleanups, an Adopt-a-Street program and coordinated pickups for reported abandoned shopping carts.
Other topics in this issue of the resident newsletter include:
- Bike Bellevue: Building on previous efforts to make bicycling safer in Bellevue, the city has launched “Bike Bellevue,” a project to add bike lanes that would connect existing ones in downtown, Wilburton and BelRed.
- New proposed plan for Airfield Park: The updated preferred master plan for Bellevue Airfield Park includes an aquatic facility, pickleball courts, trails and picnic shelters.
- Pop-up, off-leash dog areas: Recognizing the growing demand for accessible and safe spaces for pets and their owners to get exercise and enjoy the outdoors, Parks & Community Services is launching a new pop-up, off-leash dog area pilot program this summer at three parks across the city.
For this issue’s Council Corner column, Councilmember Jennifer Robertson looks back on the changes in Bellevue during her tenure. It may seem a like a big city in many ways, but it’s still got the heart of a small town, she says.
The next issue of It’s Your City will come out in October. Back issues of the newsletter are available at It's Your City.
