The annual Kelsey Creek Farm Fair on Saturday, October 11, will provide an opportunity for people of all ages to celebrate fall at historic Kelsey Creek Farm.
The event, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., will include tractor-pulled wagon rides by the NW Vintage Iron Tractor Club, heritage demonstrations by the Eastside Heritage Center, live entertainment by Cowboy Buck and Entertain Men (juggling), pumpkin decorating, farm animal interaction, pony rides and inflatables. Admission is free, though costs vary for activities.
Free parking and free shuttles will run from Bannerwood Sports Park, 1630 132nd Ave. S.E., and the Wilburton park and ride, 720 114th Ave. S.E., to Kelsey Creek Farm, 410 130th Pl. S.E. The last shuttle from the event will depart the farm at 4:15 to return to the parking sites.
Kelsey Creek Farm's history dates back to 1921, when tree stump-covered land was cleared for what became a popular local family-operated dairy called Twin Valley Dairy. The City of Bellevue began purchasing the land for Kelsey Creek Farm in 1968, and the park opened in 1972.
The Farm Fair event began as "Holiday Farm Fai"†in the early 1980s when community park art classes came together for a holiday art fair. The entire event was set up in the education barn and had approximately 200 visitors. The Kelsey Creek Farm Fair has continued to grow in popularity, and has become one of the community's best loved family events, attracting more than 5,000 visitors each year.
