The public will have an opportunity to provide input on ideas for potential land use and transportation changes in the area surrounding the future East Main light rail station at an open house on Tuesday, April 28, 5-7 p.m., at City Hall, room 1E-120.
There will be six stops in Bellevue on the East Link light rail line, including the East Main station at 112th Avenue Southeast, just south of Main Street. The city's Station Area Planning Program aims to better incorporate light rail into neighboring areas once East Link is operational.
Since September, the East Main Station Area Planning Citizen Advisory Committee, a group of representatives from the East Main station area appointed by the City Council, has been working to identify challenges and opportunities, and develop strategies to address them, in preparation for the addition of a light rail station to this area.
The public can comment on redevelopment possibilities between 112th Avenue Southeast and I-405, transportation changes and more at the open house, hosted by the East Main CAC. Other topics include:
- Future zoning changes on the east side of 112th Avenue Southeast and I-405;
- Access, traffic and parking for the Surrey Downs and Bellecrest neighborhoods;
- Pedestrian, bicycle and transit connections to the future East Main light rail station.
You may also participate through an online open house, which will include the same information as the in-person open house on April 28, available through May 10.
Your feedback, along with feedback from other area stakeholders, will help the CAC formulate its recommendations to City Council later this year.
The city's station area planning is separate from Sound Transit's East Link project and does not address East Link light rail design, construction or mitigation.
