At the next Cultural Conversations gathering on Tuesday, April 21, the women's group will explore how rapid cultural changes can impact different generations, especially within immigrant families.
The meeting and discussion will take place from 1-2:30 p.m. at Crossroads Community Center, 16000 NE 10th St.
Pam Orbach and Galit Arad-Trutner, parent-teen mediation program leaders with the City’s Neighborhood Mediation Program, will explore intergenerational tension within families and communities, and introduce ways to address them. Topics of interest may include how to honor old and new traditions, and how to preserve inherited culture in the midst of a global community.
Celebrating its fifth year, Cultural Conversations was launched as a partnership between diverse women in the community and the City of Bellevue. It was initiated by women with a desire to get better connected with their community and enhance their understanding of different cultural practices. Gatherings include women from around the world.
The events are free, refreshments are served and women of all ages, faiths and cultures are welcome to attend. To fully participate in the sharing, attendees are encouraged to arrange for childcare.
