The City of Bellevue is committed to including new and diverse voices in its 2025 Affordable Housing Strategy. With this in mind, the city’s Office of Housing is seeking community facilitators to lead conversations with those who may struggle to find or maintain safe and affordable housing in Bellevue. This includes those who live, work, study, play or have lived in Bellevue.
Facilitators will receive training and support to host these community conversations, set to take place in August and September. Applicants should have strong connections within the community and be able to use their networks to recruit participants, stimulate community engagement and facilitate conversations. Since the city is seeking input from those most impacted by housing issues, community facilitators should be able to reach renters in the community and those who make less than the area’s median income.
The 2025 Affordable Housing Strategy now being developed is aimed at ensuring housing for everyone, across incomes, backgrounds and stages of life. Community voices are an important part of this process. While the city continues to engage the general public through scheduled events and EngagingBellevue.com, these additional conversations are important to reach those who may face barriers to participating through traditional means. Community facilitators will help bring these voices into the conversation.
Applications for community facilitators will be accepted through July 30, with interviews planned on a rolling basis through Aug. 6. Contracts for these roles will be managed by a consulting firm. To learn more, register for virtual, drop-in information sessions Wednesday, July 23, 3-4 p.m., or Thursday, July 24, 4-5 p.m. Join anytime during the hour to ask questions and learn about the program.
