On Friday, May 8, members of the Bellevue Police Department's Special Enforcement Team (SET), with assistance from the Bellevue Police SWAT team and a Kirkland Police K-9 unit, arrested a suspected prolific Eastside car thief at his home in Seattle.
Bellevue SET Detectives, through a thorough investigation, identified the primary suspect in several Eastside car thefts as Brian David Beasley. Detectives began surveillance of Beasley and observed him operating a stolen vehicle. Detectives eventually tracked Beasley to his house in the Lake City neighborhood of Seattle.
Detectives arrived early on May 8 for surveillance, and saw Beasley walk away from the home. Detectives attempted to arrest him a block away, and Beasley fled on foot. A Kirkland K9 unit brought in for the arrest was able to locate and arrest Beasley hiding in a yard a short time later. Beasley was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of two counts of vehicle theft, and made his initial court appearance on Friday.
Detectives recovered two stolen vehicles near Beasley's residence; a Honda Odyssey that had been stolen from the Enatai neighborhood of Bellevue the day before and a Honda Ridgeline that had been reported stolen from Kirkland. Detectives searched Beasley's residence pursuant to a search warrant, and located a stolen Apple Macbook, heroin and evidence of heroin sales. One adult with a state Department of Corrections escape warrant was arrested at the residence and booked into the King County Jail.
Bellevue Police Chief Steve Mylett stated: "I'm extremely proud of the hard work of the Bellevue Police SET team, SWAT team and grateful for the assistance we received from the Kirkland K-9 team on this case. Because of their hard work and dedication, a prolific car thief is off our streets."
