Updated March 10 with cancellation
The Bellevue Youth Theatre, in partnership with the Bellevue Youth Theatre Foundation, celebrates the theater’s 30th anniversary this year.
A benefit gala set for March 13 and 14 has been canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The city is refunding tickets. If you choose to donate a portion of your refund to support BYT, we much appreciate it.
BYT started in 1990 as an outreach program at the Crossroads Community Center. The theater provides opportunities such as acting, managing lights and sound, and fitting costumes for all young people, regardless of income or ability, while entertaining the community with classic and contemporary dramatic arts.
Over the last 30 years, BYT has produced 234 productions, serving over 21,000 participants. In 2015, a new 200-seat state-of-the art theater opened at Crossroads Park. Productions this year include “Rapunzel,” “The Taming of the Shrew,” "Cinderella," and "Once on This Island JR," a musical adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Little Mermaid.”
At the gala, alumni actors were going to share how participating in theater as a child shaped their lives.
