Each year artists and arts groups working in Bellevue get a boost from the city's two arts funding programs: Eastside Arts Partnerships and Special Projects. The application period for 2013 is open for both. Guidelines and applications for obtaining funding are posted on the program pages.
Applications to either program are due at City Hall by Wednesday, March 13, at 5 p.m., or may be emailed to mpbyrne@bellevuewa.gov
The Eastside Arts Partnerships program provides operating funds for arts organizations doing all or most of their programming in Bellevue. Organizations serving Bellevue and demonstrating excellence in artistic quality, management, fiscal strength and community connections are prime candidates for Partnerships funding. These groups provide significant public benefit for Bellevue residents and support the goals of Cultural Compass, the city's cultural plan.
Special Projects provides partial funding for projects in Bellevue by artists or arts organizations. Projects selected for Special Projects funding provide a clear public benefit to Bellevue residents, and also support the goals of Cultural Compass. Additional criteria are listed in the guidelines. Projects taking place during 2013 are eligible. Applications for projects taking place anywhere in Bellevue are welcome.
From time to time the city's Arts Commission identifies an area of special interest and gives priority consideration to Special Projects proposals serving that interest. For 2013, the commission is continuing its efforts to stimulate arts activity in the Bel-Red area. More information is included in the special projects guidelines. Applicants are encouraged to contacts arts program staff to discuss their proposals.
The Bellevue Arts Program provides funding for arts organizations and artists working in Bellevue, manages Bellevue's public art program, oversees implementation of the Cultural Compass and other cultural initiatives. The Arts Commission, a seven-member volunteer advisory group appointed by city council, advises the arts program.
Details, instructions and application forms for both funding programs are in the guidelines available online or by contacting the arts program at 425-452-4105.
