The Bellevue Youth Theatre is an inclusive recreational program for ages 5-19, with the focus on teen participants. Persons with disabilities, families and older adults are encouraged to participate. The emphasis of the theatre is to build self-esteem, teamwork and confidence in youth while performing in a supportive environment. Children 11 and younger, and first-time participants, may have limited roles. For more information, please call 425-452-7155.

Fall Auditions

Tuesday (September 3) and Wednesday (September 4):
Bellevue Youth Theatre, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Thursday (September 5): 
South Bellevue Community Center, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Step 1: READ

Step 2: REGISTER for one cast ONLY (do not register for more than one cast). There is limited space available for each cast, and registration closes on Monday, September 2.

Step 3: FILL OUT paperwork.

Step 4. ATTEND mandatory parent orientation on Thursday, September 12 at 5 p.m.

Step 5. ATTEND first meeting: 

  • Monday, September 16, 5 p.m. at South Bellevue Community Center for "The Phantom Tollbooth"  
  • Monday, September 23, 5 p.m. at Bellevue Youth Theatre for "The Monkey King," "Madagascar, Jr." and "The Twelve Days of Christmas"  

PARENTS OF ACTORS AGES 7 AND YOUNGER ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND; ALL PARENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND.

PARENTS OF ACTORS 7 AND YOUNGER ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND ALL REHEARSALS.

All parents are strongly encouraged to attend the first meeting.

THE PHANTOM TOLLBOOTH 
If you like witty dialogue, corny dad jokes, and playful wordplay, have we got a show for you!  Based on the beloved book by Norton Juster, "The Phantom Tollbooth" takes Milo on a wild adventure to wacky lands to restore Rhyme and Reason to the kingdoms of Dictionopolis and Digitopolis.  Parts available for all ages. 

There is a Mandatory First Meeting for all participants on Monday, September 16 at 5 p.m. at the South Bellevue Community Center.  We strongly encourage parents to attend.

THE MONKEY KING 
A rambunctious young boy wants to be a god!  In this adaptation of a portion of the classic Chinese legend, the Monkey King (Sun Wukong) has supernatural abilities.  When his kingdom is overrun by demons, he sets out to be the first monkey ever to become an immortal.  Great roles for all ages! 

There is a Mandatory First Meeting for all participants on Monday, September 23 at Bellevue Youth Theatre.  We strongly encourage parents to attend.  
     5-10 year-olds meet at 5 p.m. 
     11 years and older meet at 6 p.m.

MADAGASCAR, JR. 
This lively musical is based on the animated Madagascar film.  Actors must sing and dance in the production.  Singing is required at the audition.  There are parts for all ages.

THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS 
A town has fallen to bad times.  An undercover prince seeks to find the source of its misery and instead finds true love and a villain.  This show has music, dance, and lots of intrigue!  Great roles for all ages. 

There is a Mandatory First Meeting for all participants on Monday, September 23 at Bellevue Youth Theatre.  We strongly encourage parents to attend.

     11 years and older meet at 6 p.m.

Fees:
Residents - Free
Non-residents - $150

Refunds (for non-Bellevue residents):

  • If you withdraw seven calendar days prior to the start of class (first meeting), you will receive a $140 refund.
  • If you withdraw one to six days prior to the start of class (first meeting), your refund will be $75.
  • If you withdraw on or after the first class (first meeting), you will not receive a refund.
  • NOTE: The withdrawal must be processed. Voicemail and email requests do not constitute "being processed." You must speak to someone live to consider you or your child withdrawn. If you are calling on the weekend, you may call Bellevue Parks & Community Services' main line at 425-452-6885 and press 1 to be transferred to someone live.
  • In addition, you will not be refunded if you don't like your part or feel you don't have enough lines.
