Experience Bellevue! workshops are family-friendly and open while space and supplies last. Early registration is highly encouraged to reserve your spot. Sign-ups will be available starting on Monday, Aug. 3.

Introduction to American Mahjong 

Have you been hearing about American Mahjong and wondering what it's all about? This introductory workshop provides an overview of the game, the tiles, and the unique features that make Mahjong such a popular social activity. Whether you're simply curious or considering taking a beginner class, this workshop is a great place to start. 

10-11 a.m. | 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. | 1-2 p.m. | 2:30-3:30 p.m. 

Family Tai Chi

This playful, beginner-friendly workshop for families with children, featuring parent–child Tai Chi activities, animal-inspired movement games, partner balance challenges, and simple Tai Chi techniques learned together. Participants will receive a short introduction that includes a live demonstration, guided practice, and time to connect with other families. 

11-11:45 a.m.

The World of Manga Creation

11 a.m.-noon | 1-2 p.m.

Dive into the world of manga creation with artist Arisa Nakamura! In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll learn the fundamental techniques behind manga art, including manpu (emotion symbols), fukidashi (speech balloons), expressive facial features, and the essentials of designing compelling characters. You’ll also get hands-on experience using drawing tools to bring your own manga characters to life. Whether you’re a curious beginner or an aspiring artist, these sessions offer an inspiring look into manga storytelling. 

Youth Tai Chi 

Noon-12:45 p.m. 

Youth Tai Chi is a beginner-friendly workshop for ages 10–18, featuring Tai Chi fundamentals, fun balance and coordination challenges, focus and mindfulness exercises, and a demonstration of Chen-style techniques. There will be a short introduction featuring a live demo, guided practice plus space for Q&A. 

Tai Chi for Wellness 

1-1:45 p.m. 

A calming, beginner-friendly session for adults focusing on office stress relief, shoulder and neck relaxation, breathing and mindfulness practices, and an introduction to simple Chen-style Tai Chi movements. There will be a brief overview with a live instructor demonstration, guided interactive practice, and time for Q&A.  

Tai Chi for Active Seniors 

2-2:45 p.m. 

This gentle, beginner-friendly session features safe standing Tai Chi exercises, balance improvement and fall‑prevention movements, joint‑friendly mobility work, and calming breathing and relaxation practices. It will include a live instructor demonstration, guided interactive practice, and time for participant questions.  

Epic Earthworms

All day

Explore the fascinating world of earthworms through hands-on discovery with live nightcrawlers and red worms. This family-friendly activity includes close-up observation of live worms, a worm-themed craft and game. Stop by any time during the event for a fun and engaging look at these important soil creatures. 

Henna Design Studio

All day 

Professional henna artists will be available throughout the event, offering free small, custom henna designs. Guests can choose from a selection of patterns—such as florals, geometric shapes, or traditional motifs—each applied quickly and safely using high‑quality, natural henna. The artists will be stationed at a designated booth, welcoming walk‑ups and offering a fun, creative experience for everyone  

Salsa Dancing

Join your neighbors and give Latin dancing a whirl inside Bellevue City Hall with free salsa lessons by instructors from Salsaymotion Dance Academy. Whether you’re trying dance for the first time or looking for a fresh way to move your body, this class offers a welcoming space to learn and build confidence on the dance floor. 

Line Dancing

If you love to move to music, come try line dancing, a fun, upbeat way to enjoy popular songs, energize, and meet your neighbors. An instructor will guide you step‑by‑step, making it easy for everyone to join in. The session begins with beginner-friendly steps and gradually introduces more complexity as participants become comfortable with the movements.
