Description

Bring your sensitive paper documents to our free shredding event for secure, on-site shredding and recycling. It's an easy way to protect your personal information while ensuring your paper is recycled responsibly.

How it works

  • Stay in your vehicle while staff unload your documents and take them directly to the onsite shredder.
  • Empty boxes will be returned to you immediately. Please note that we cannot accept or recycle boxes at the event.

What to bring

  • Sensitive paper documents only
  • Limit of 4 file-size boxes or 5 bags per vehicle (no exceptions)

Please do not bring
These items cannot be accepted because they contaminate the recycling process:

  • Computer disks
  • Plastic of any kind
  • X-rays
  • 3-ring binders
  • Cardboard
  • Garbage

Why use a shred event?
Paper shredded by a professional shredding service can be recycled. Paper shredded at home is too small for the recycling process and should be placed in the garbage—not your recycling or compost cart.

To maximize recycling, shred only what you need. The Washington State Attorney General's Office recommends shredding documents that contain sensitive personal information, such as Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, and other confidential data.

For more guidance on what to shred, visit atg.wa.gov/what-shred. For recycling questions, email recycle@bellevuewa.gov.
