With World Cup soccer games coming to Seattle this summer, the city is committed to fostering a safe, informed community. There is an increased risk of human trafficking associated with major global sporting events. As part of this effort, Bellevue is partnering with Business Ending Slavery & Trafficking (BEST), to offer free training to businesses on how to identify and report trafficking.
Human trafficking can affect any community, and increasing public understanding is a key to prevention. The city invites event organizers and employees of restaurants and other businesses to register for online or in-person trafficking awareness training. The training will cover how to recognize indicators of exploitation, safely respond and prevent trafficking from occurring.
In-person Training
Bellevue will host an in-person prevention training with a question-and-answer session facilitated by BEST on Monday, June 1, 11 a.m. at City Hall. Participants will earn certificates of completion. We encourage public transportation, as visitor parking is limited.
