    Water Quality Tester

Bellevue Utilities designs, operates and maintains the city’s water storage and distribution system ensuring your water is safe and reliable.

Bellevue’s high-quality drinking water comes from the watersheds of the Tolt and Cedar rivers, and meets or exceeds all state and federal drinking water standards.

    PFAS

As a member of the Cascade Water Alliance, Bellevue’s drinking water comes from Seattle Public Utilities. Due to recent public interest, SPU offers information about polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and testing. The state Department of Health provides answers to frequently asked questions about PFAS.

View additional information on Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR 5).

    Fluoride

As a member of the Cascade Water Alliance, Bellevue’s drinking water comes from Seattle Public Utilities (SPU). SPU follows recommendations regarding fluoridation from the Washington State Department of Health, the US Department of Health and Human Services, and the US Environmental Protection Agency.  SPU is closely following recent developments regarding fluoride in drinking water and any potential changes to future recommendations. SPU provides a web page with more information on Fluoride in Water.

    Ensuring water quality

    • Water storage tanks are inspected and cleaned to ensure secure and sanitary conditions.
    • City water pipes are cleaned to remove sediment that naturally collects.
    • Technology keeps water fresher by reducing the amount of time the water spends in pipes.
    • Water quality testing stations located throughout the water system ensure citywide monitoring for potential contaminants.
    • The cross-connection control/backflow prevention program helps to prevent contaminating fluids from going into the city’s water system.

    Water Quality Report

In accordance with the federal Safe Drinking Water Act, the city provides a water quality report each year to all residential and commercial customers. Bellevue’s drinking water meets or exceeds all state and federal drinking water standards, and this report contains information about monitoring, testing results, and answers to frequently asked questions. A list of additional compounds monitored for but not detected is also available.
