Bellevue is the fifth largest city in Washington and one of the fastest growing, with a fire department that has grown to meet the expanding needs of our community. We respond to nearly 25,000 incidents each year, 75% of them medical in nature.
The department maintains one of the highest cardiac arrest survival rates in world. One of a select few firefighting agencies with a Class 2 rating from the Washington State Survey and Rating Bureau, Bellevue Fire ranks in the top 1% of the 46,699 departments in the U.S., and is one of the top three in the state.
Become a Volunteer
If you've ever wanted to help during an emergency but weren't sure how - now's your chance. Bellevue's Office of Emergency Management has launched a new volunteer program to train and prepare residents to support their community before, during and after disasters.
We're looking for people of all backgrounds and skill sets to get involved. Whether you're a logistics professional, a ham radio operator or simply a community minded individual who wants to roll up your sleeves to assist during a crisis, we've got a spot for you.
Volunteer opportunities range from emergency response support and shelter logistics to communications and community outreach.
