The Community Academy is a nine-week program for Bellevue residents and those who work in Bellevue to become acquainted with how their police department operates. On completion of the academy, graduates will have a better understanding of the law enforcement role in the criminal justice system and an appreciation for the many challenges facing law enforcement in today's complex society.
The Community Academy is primarily classroom-based, with hands-on lessons about law enforcement. Topics include patrol procedures, firearms, 911 communications, narcotics, K-9, major crimes investigations, major accident investigations, defensive tactics, hostage negotiations, and more.
2026 Community Academy registration is now open. Our 2026 class will take place every Thursday evening at 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm from March 19 through May 21, 2026. Class will not be scheduled on Thursday, April 9 due to Bellevue School District’s spring break. We ask that participants commit to attending a minimum of seven sessions. Please register.
