    Closure Notice - High Bacteria Alert

    July 1: The swim area at Meydenbauer Bay Park is closed until further notice due to high bacteria levels. For your safety, please stay out of the water. 

    For test dates, results, and other places to swim, visit kingcounty.gov/swimbeach

    Six Bellevue parks – Meydenbauer Bay Park, Chism, Newcastle, Enatai, Clyde and Chesterfield beach parks – feature beaches on Lake Washington. All but Chesterfield usually have lifeguards posted throughout the summer. Swim area closure notices, due to staff shortage or high bacteria in the water, for example, will be posted on this webpage.

    A lifeguard is posted at Meydenbauer Bay Park.

    Lifeguard Schedule

    Lifeguards will be on duty from 12-7 p.m. at the following locations and dates:

    • June 21-September 1: Enatai, Meydenbauer, Newcastle
    • June 28-August 17: Chism, Clyde

    The City of Bellevue is seeking lifeguard and swim instructors to work at the Bellevue Aquatic Center and our beach parks. These positions offer flexible hours in a fun work environment with the chance to provide a positive impact in many peoples’ lives. The city focuses on a team-oriented approach to providing a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience.

    Kayak, Canoe, and Paddleboard Rentals

    Parks & Community Services contracts with Best Kayak Rentals to offer hourly kayak, SUP, and canoe rentals at the following locations:

    • Meydenbauer Bay Boathouse, 2 99th Ave NE
    • Enatai Beach Boathouse , 3519 108th Ave SE

    Chesterfield Beach Park - 2501 100th Avenue SE

    Amenities

    Dock, play and picnic area, restrooms and swimming. Take a short trail with several steps down (and back up!) to enjoy the views and serenity of this small beach park. Approximately .6 acres.
     

    Driving Directions

    From I-405, take the SE 8th Street exit west. Turn left on 112th Avenue SE. Turn right on Bellevue Way. Turn left on 108th Avenue SE. Turn right on SE 25th Street. From I-90, take the Bellevue Way exit north. Turn left on 113 Avenue SE. Turn right on 108th Avenue SE. Turn left on SE 25th Street.

    Chism Beach Park - 9600 SE 11th Street

    Amenities

    Swimming, two picnic sites suitable for group events or weddings, dock, restrooms, picnic and play areas. Disabled parking available. Approximately 18 acres.
     

    Driving directions

    From I-405, take the NE 8th Street exit going west. Turn left onto Bellevue Way. Turn right onto Main Street. Turn left onto 101st Avenue SE. Follow the road as it curves uphill. Chism Park is on the right at SE 11th Street. From I-90, take the Bellevue Way exit north. Turn left on SE 16th Street. Turn right on 100th Avenue SE. Follow the road until it turns into SE 11th Street.

    Rental information

    Clyde Beach Park - 2 92nd Avenue NE

    Amenities

    Swimming, restrooms, picnic and play area. The boathouse will evoke memories from the past. Disabled parking available. Approximately 2.23 acres.

    Driving directions

    From I-405, take the NE 8th Street exit going west. Turn left onto 92nd Avenue NE. The park is at the end of the street. Rental information

    Enatai Beach Park - 3519-108th Avenue SE

    Amenities

    Swimming, dock, boat house, picnic area, restrooms, canoe and kayak rentals (seasonal). Partially hidden under the I-90 bridge, this waterfront park features a spacious patio with scenic views overlooking Lake Washington. Take in the wildlife during a canoe or kayak trip through nearby Mercer Slough. Disabled parking available. Approximately 3 acres. 

     

    Driving directions

    From I-90, take the Bellevue Way exit north. Turn left on 108th Avenue SE. Park in the lot under the I-90 overpass or farther east on Lake Street. Rental information

    Meydenbauer Bay Park - 9899 Lake Washington Blvd NE

    Meydenbauer Bay Park is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.  

    Amenities

    Meydenbauer Bay Park includes a viewing terrace, hillside woodland, outdoor classroom, play area, beach house, PPV launch, whaling building update, pedestrian pier, shoreline restoration, daylighted channel, ravine canoe and kayak rentals (seasonal). 

    Driving directions

    From I-405, take the NE 8th Street exit west. Turn left on 98th Avenue NE. The park entrance will be on the right.

    Newcastle Beach Park - 4400 Lake Washington Boulevard SE

    Amenities

    Swimming, sunbathing, nature trail, 300-foot dock, play area, picnic facilities, large flat open space. Newcastle Beach Park is the most popular beach park in Bellevue's park system. Parking is limited; please carpool. Disabled parking available. Approximately 42 acres.

    Driving directions

    From I-405, take the 112th Avenue SE exit (#9). At the top of the ramp, turn west towards Lake Washington. Turn right onto Lake Washington Boulevard SE. Continue down the hill into the park. Rental information

    Inclement weather

    In the event of inclement weather, Bellevue Parks & Community Services will make every effort to clearly communicate the status of facilities and programs, special events, and rentals. The department will make an operational decision based upon the safety of participants and employees and the ability to appropriately staff programs and facilities. 

    Facility operating hours may vary, and those facilities not able to operate at full capacity may be open for drop-in activities on a modified schedule. Call the facility to confirm operating hours. If you are unable to reach the facility, then call the Parks & Community Services Department general information line at 425-452-6885 or visit the Parks homepage. 

    Inclement weather can affect park use and trail conditions. Please use caution when visiting park sites during poor weather as trails and other park facilities may become wet and slippery. Park trails may also be closed.
