Highland Community Center is a trusted provider of recreation services and programs for individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities. Bellevue's Adaptive Recreation Program provides people with disabilities with opportunities for recreation, socialization and learning. People with disabilities are encouraged to participate in any of the recreation division programs in which they are interested.

Adaptive Recreation Opportunities

Summary of programs offered at Highland Community Center. Please note: not all programs are offered each quarter.

For current offerings, please see the Activity Guide program brochure.

All new participants must meet with Mary Boyle, Community Services Coordinator.  Please call 425-452-4118 or email mboyle@bellevuewa.gov to schedule a meeting.  New participants will not be able to register until meeting with the coordinator. 

For Adults with Intellectual Disabilities

Our programs for adults with intellectual disabilities include creative activities like Artistic Inspirations and Arts & Crafts; energizing fitness classes such as Full Fitness Fun and Dance; fun social events including BINGO, Social Club, Movie Time, and Hangout; themed special events like Decades Dance, Barn Dance, Aloha Picnic, and Halloween Howl; engaging sports like Basketball, Track, and Softball, and interactive virtual options like BINGO and Trivia.

For Adults with Physical Disabilities 

Our programs for individuals with physical disabilities include exercise classes led by instructors focused on maintaining motor strength and enhancing range of motion. Additionally, we offer drop-in Wheelchair Basketball sessions and open access to our fitness room for drop-in use when classes are not in session. Join us to stay active and engaged!

Payment

Per City of Bellevue policy, payment is due upon registration. City of Bellevue offers financial assistance to Bellevue residents.  The City of Bellevue Parks & Community Services Department also accepts DDA Respite funds for programs (DDA does not cover any tech/material fees).  If you do not live in Bellevue or qualify for financial assistance, but still require assistance, please call us at 425-452-7686.
