Downtown streets will be impacted on Sunday, Apr 26 from 5 a.m. – 12 p.m. to accommodate runners and walkers along NE 2nd Street, 112th Avenue SE and Bellevue Way north of Downtown Park.

The following traffic advisories reflect current conditions as they are known. The listings below reflect construction work that can affect travel on city streets, sidewalks and trails (note: excludes individual lane closures or lane and sidewalk closures associated with development projects). Expect traffic delays or use an alternate route, if possible. Please obey construction signs and flaggers. Construction schedules are subject to change and often do.

Current construction impacts 

  • 160th Avenue SE between SE 33rd Street and SE 3100 blk: closed from Apr 14-May 30 from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday – Friday, for restorations, sidewalk access will be maintained.
  • UPDATED: Killarney Way - 104th Avenue SE to Killarney Drive SE: Killarney Way closed from Killarney Drive to 104th Avenue SE until Apr 28, then closures will impact 104th Avenue SE south of Killarney Way, 7 a.m.-4 p.m. for watermain replacement.
  • All lanes of Coal Creek Parkway will be closed for one or two 15-minute intervals on April 28-29 for pole installation. 
  • 158th Avenue SE from SE Eastgate Way to SE 33rd Street: closed until Apr 30 from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. for water main connection work. A signed detour route will be in place; pedestrians and bicyclists will be accommodated through the work zone. 

Ongoing construction impacts

  • NEW: Bel-Red Road from NE 30th Street to West Lake Sammamish Parkway will experience lane closures from now through the end of August to add buffered bike lanes. City of Redmond Project.
  • Lake Hills Boulevard: closed between 151st and 154th avenues southeast for the replacement of the Kelsey Creek Culvert. Partial lane closures will begin in late April followed by a full closure for 60 days in early June. Detours will be in place. Project details.
  • Main Street between 108th Avenue NE – 112th Avenue NE: The curb-side lane of eastbound Main Street near 110th Avenue SE is closed between the hours of 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Monday-Friday until further notice. Access for people walking and rolling and access to businesses will be maintained. More information is on the project webpage.
  • 100th Avenue NE between NE 14th Street and NE 24th Street: closed until May, detour on Bellevue Way. One-way local access will be maintained to all driveways. More information is on the project webpage.
  • 150th Avenue SE and SE Eastgate Way Intersection: All lanes have re-opened to traffic along 150th Avenue SE which is expected to improve access to and from I-90. No lane closures are currently scheduled for the next couple of months, but expect shoulder work in the daytime and evening hours. More information is on the project webpage.

Pavement Preservation Program

Paving season is typically from April to October. Flaggers will be onsite for traffic control and pedestrian access unless otherwise indicated. More information about the paving program, including weekly updates, on the program webpage.

Work is weather dependent. Please slow down for the safety of workers and all travelers. Traffic may be reduced to one-way alternating traffic, expect delays. Work hours are Monday – Friday.

April 27-May 1: 

ADA upgrades scheduled Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., expect lane closures and delays:

  • None planned for this timeframe.  

Pavement upgrades are weather dependent and scheduled Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 4 p.m., expect delays, single-lane closures with one-way alternating traffic; unless otherwise noted:

  • SE 47th Place between Highland Drive and 147th Place SE:, Paving Apr 27.
  • SE 146th Place SE south of SE 47th Place: Paving Apr 27.
  • 143rd Avenue SE & Lake Hills Boulevard - Paving Apr 28.
  • 100th Avenue SE, 101st Avenue SE, 101st Place SE, 103rd Avenue SE & SE 102nd Avenue SE – Paving Apr 29.

Other agency projects

Sound Transit:

  • 2-Line trains will be replaced by shuttle buses between South Bellevue and Overlake stations from April 28-30, from 10:30 p.m. to the end of service.

Washington State Department of Transportation: 

  • NEW: I-90 Routine Maintenance: All lanes of westbound I-90 and on-ramps will be closed from Island Crest Way to Rainier Avenue South overnight from 8:30 p.m., Friday, May 1 to 5:30 a.m., Saturday, May 2. 
  • SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Program: More information on the project webpage.
  • I-405 Burlington Northern Bridge to Pedestrian Trail Bridge & I-90/East Fork Issaquah Creek Seismic: More information on project webpage.
    • Northup Way from 116th Avenue NE to NE 33rd Place: WSDOT crews will close a single lane beginning April 5 for several months from 7 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday-Friday. The bicycle lane and sidewalk under I-405 will also be closed during working hours. Signs and flaggers will guide travelers and pedestrians through the work zone. Cyclists will merge with traffic when the bike lane is closed. Daytime lane closures are part of a project to bolster overpasses along I-405 to help them withstand an earthquake.
  • I-405 and NE 85th Street Interchange Project: More information on project webpage.
  • I-90 Sunset Creek - Fish Passage: More information on project webpage.
    • The northbound and southbound ramps connecting I-405 with eastbound I-90 will close from 10 p.m.-5 a.m. nightly Mon., Apr 20, to Fri. morning, Apr 24, for utility work. Signed detours will guide people from northbound and southbound I-405 to eastbound.
    • SE Eastgate Way will experience single-lane closures at the new Sunset Creek culvert between Richards Road and 139th Avenue SE from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday – Saturday beginning in early April. Project webpage.
  • Renton to Bellevue I-405 Widening and Express Toll Lane Project: More information on project webpage.
    • I-405 construction closures that will impact Bellevue drivers: (Dates are weather dependent.)
      • April 24-27 – Renton - Full southbound closure from SR 169 to SR 167.
      • April 29-May 1 - Nighttime closures all southbound lanes from Coal Creek Parkway to NE 30th Street, Renton.
      • May 8-11 - Sunset/Southport in Renton to Coal Creek Parkway in Bellevue – weather dependent.
      • May 15-18 - Sunset/Southport in Renton to Coal Creek Parkway in Bellevue –weather dependent.

King County 

  • Eastrail: More information on project webpage.
  • Coal Creek Sewer Upgrade Project: King County Wastewater Treatment Division is upgrading its regional sewer line that serves Bellevue and Newcastle. More information on project website or CoalCreekProject@kingcounty.gov
    • Coal Creek Parkway SE southbound single-lane closures 6 a.m.-3 p.m. and northbound single-lane closures 10:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. remain in place near Forest Drive SE.
    • The Red Cedar trailhead will remain closed to all public use during this work. Other trailheads in the area such as the Cinder Mine, Red Town, Coal Creek Family YMCA, and Forest Drive trailheads are available for trail users. 
  • North Mercer Island/Enatai Sewer Upgrade Project: Crews will locate utilities in north Mercer Island and southwest Bellevue to prepare for major construction activities from spring 2022 and extend into 2026.
