Northwest Bellevue voting phase is complete!

Thanks to those Northwest Bellevue residents who participated in the Northwest Bellevue round of Neighborhood Enhancement Program.

Four new capital improvement projects will be funded from the $380,000 allotted budget, thanks to the 350 ballots that were returned.

1. Bellevue Way NE Landscape Enhancement

Bellevue Way NE, between NE 12th Street and NE 24th Street

This project will involve landscape renovation and beautification of streetscape beds on the West side of Bellevue Way. Work will focus on removing existing turfgrass in curbside beds, and soil and irrigation improvements to support new landscaping. Plants will be chosen specifically to avoid sight-distance problems and integrate with previous phases of renovation. Opportunities for additional renovation in this section will be considered where practical.

Project Manager: Laura McKee (425-452-4108); lmckee@bellevuewa.gov
Estimated Project completion date: Fall 2027

2. 92nd Ave NE Invasive Plant Removal

92nd Ave NE at NE 8th Street to Clyde Hill city limits

This project will involve the one-time removal of invasive vegetation in the right-of-way along the East side of 92nd Ave NE. Efforts will remove accumulated debris and invasive species such as ivy, blackberry and holly, mulch the exposed areas and support two years of vegetation suppression.

Project Manager: Laura McKee (425-452-4108); lmckee@bellevuewa.gov
Estimated Project completion date: Spring 2027

3. Meydenbauer Area Wayfinding Signage

Meydenbauer Bay Park area

This project will install pedestrian and bicycle wayfinding signs and posts to the Meydenbauer Bay and Downtown Parks.

Project Manager: Brittany Quan (425-452-4631); bquan@bellevuewa.gov
Estimated Project completion date: Fall 2026

4. Vuecrest Utility Box Wrap

Mini roundabout located at the Northwest corner of Belfair Lane and 100th Ave NE

This project will wrap the existing silver utility box with custom artwork that draws inspiration from vintage Vuecrest promotional materials. It includes hiring a local artist, managed by the City of Bellevue’s Arts Program, to develop designs for the new wrap. Existing vintage Vuecrest promotional materials will be provided to the artist for their use in creating custom designs.

Project Manager: Manette Stamm (425-452-4064); mstamm@bellevuewa.gov
Estimated Project completion date: Fall 2027

A Northwest Bellevue NEP Newsletter was mailed to each household in your area with complete voting results.

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the process. Please return the postage paid evaluation card included with your Announcement Newsletter or submit your comments online using the evaluation form. The deadline for submissions is Monday, Dec 29.

The Northwest Bellevue Neighborhood Enhancement Program kicked off in March 2025 with 94 resident-identified project ideas. These ideas were then reviewed for accessibility, feasibility, cost, timeliness and maintainability to determine voting ballot project eligibility. A total of nine projects were included on the voting ballot. The top project receiving votes (listed above) will be installed over the next 3-4 years.

Northwest Bellevue NEP projects selected by residents in 2018

Two capital improvement projects will be funded from the $315,000 Northwest Bellevue allotted budget.

1. Bellevue Way Landscape Enhancement

This project will provide for the beautification of the Bellevue Way streetscape on the west side of the boulevard that currently consists of common turf between curb and sidewalk and a mix of aging shrubs in right-of-way back of sidewalk. This project will remove the water inefficient turf, improve the soil and irrigation, and design and implement a landscape of plant combinations that will unify the streetscape of Northwest Bellevue. Opportunities on east side of Bellevue Way such as the Northtowne Park frontage will be researched for upgrades. Project completed: Spring 2025.

Project Manager: Laura McKee (425-452-4108); LMcKee@bellevuewa.gov

2. 100th Ave. NE and NE 18th St. Raised Intersection

This project will install a raised intersection at 100th Ave NE and NE 18th St to improve visibility of pedestrians crossing the street and encourage motorists to drive at a slower speed. The raised intersection will include high visibility school crosswalks to improve safety at this key connection point for students walking to and from schools located on 98th Ave NE. This improvement is part of the NW Bellevue Walkways and Safety Improvements project that will provide safe connections to schools on 98th Ave NE by constructing a multi-purpose path on the east side of 100th Ave NE, two raised crosswalks with RRFBs and two additional raised intersections on 100th Ave NE, and new sidewalks on NE 18th St, 98th Ave NE, and NE 21st St. Estimated Project completion: Spring 2026.

Project Manager: Benjamin Wright (425-452-2883); Bmwright@bellevuewa.gov
