Masks remain required in the Fitness Room because it serves as a health care setting. Under the most recent requirements by the Governor and Department of Health, masks are still required in health care settings.

This facility serves many participants with underlying medical conditions that put them at higher risk of severe outcomes of COVID-19. Although masking is no longer required, we request that you please consider continued masking in the following areas until April 18:

-Common areas (lobby, hallways, and bathrooms)

-Adaptive recreation programs areas for people with disabilities

Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep those with underlying medical conditions safe. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Kim Indurkar, Community Services Supervisor, at Kindurkar@bellevuewa.gov or (425) 452-6105

The 7,000-square-foot Highland Community Center provides fitness, socialization and recreation activities for those with intellectual and physical disabilities. It is located at Highland Community Park, which offers tennis courts, indoor and outdoor skate parks, a playground, ballfields and a walking track. Detailed information about these are available here:

    History

In the interest of socializing, a group of Highland Residents in 1923 banded together and formed the Kent Corner Community Club, named for the Kent family who donated a site on the Bellevue-Redmond Road for a log-frame clubhouse. Members did all the land clearing and construction. The Community Center, now called Highland Community Center, proudly boasts tennis courts, indoor and outdoor skate parks, a playground, ballfields, and a walking track.

In case of inclement weather, please see the Parks & Community Services main page for current closure information.  Call 425-452-7686 before traveling to Highland Community Center to ensure the facility is open.

In the event of inclement weather, the Parks & Community Services Department will make every effort to communicate the status of facilities and programs, special events and rentals. Administration will decide whether to cancel a program or close a facility based upon the safety of participants and employees and the ability to appropriately staff programs and facilities.

As a general rule, if the Bellevue School District is closed due to a weather event, Parks & Community Services Department classes and programs will be cancelled for the entire day. If the Bellevue School District is on a delayed schedule, call the facility for an updated status report. Select facilities may be open for drop-in activities at a modified level. If you are unable to reach the facility, call the Parks & Community Services Department's general information number at 425-452-6885. Inclement weather can affect park use and trail conditions. Please use caution when visiting park sites during poor weather, as trails and other park facilities may become wet and slippery. Park trails may be closed.
