In 2024, the Bellevue Fire Department responds to 24,894 calls for service annually; 60% of those for medical assistance. Since its inception, the Bellevue Fire Department has considered medical aid to be an essential aspect of its mission. To better serve the community, the department launched the second paramedic program in King County in 1972; just two years after the Seattle Fire Department pioneered the concept.
Every Bellevue firefighter has either an emergency medical technician or paramedic level of medical training, and is committed to providing exceptional, compassionate, pre-hospital emergency medicine and treatment of those placed in our care.
In addition to providing basic life support services in Bellevue and our partner communities, we provide advanced life support in partnership with King County Medic One, covering the communities along the Interstate 90 corridor from Lake Washington to Snoqualmie Pass.
