With a police force consistently ranked among the best, Bellevue has one of the lowest crime rates in the country. The Fire Department ranks among the top 1 percent of fire services in the U.S., extinguishing fires quickly and maintaining one of the highest cardiac arrest survival rates in world.

The Neighborhood Traffic Safety division in the Transportation Department helps ensure neighborhood streets are safe, while the Fire Department's Office of Emergency Management coordinates the city's preparation and response to emergencies, training residents too.
