The Home Repair Program provides low- to moderate-income Bellevue homeowners with zero-interest home loans and grants for repairs related to health and safety issues, including:
- Faulty plumbing
- Unsafe electrical wiring
- Poor heating
- Roof and gutter repairs
- Fencing and decking repair
- Siding repair and exterior painting
Types of Loans and Grants
Deferred Payment Loans
Eligible repairs include health- and safety-related improvements for homeowners who meet low-income guidelines. The city provides a zero-interest loan that does not have to be paid back until the homeowner sells the home or it is transferred to a new owner.
Grants
Eligible repairs for grants are restricted to health and safety hazards requiring more immediate attention and for those who do not qualify for a loan. Homeowners must meet low-income eligibility guidelines. Because this is a grant, not a loan, it does not have to be repaid. Examples of repairs include:
- Sewer back-up and emergency plumbing repairs
- Hot water heater repair and/or replacement
- Furnace repair
Minor Home Repair Assistance
Minor home repair assistance provides low-income homeowners with smaller-scale home repairs, such as:
- Fixing leaking faucets and clogged drains
- Replacing broken toilets and sinks
- Replacing broken light switches
- Installing smoke detectors
- Installing locks and deadbolts
- Installing grab bars/handrails and other accessibility modifications
To Qualify
- You must have owned and lived in the house for which you are requesting assistance for at least a year.
- The house must be within the Bellevue city limits.
- You must meet the program's income requirements (see below).
Annual Income Requirements
To determine income eligibility, count the number of household members residing in the house (Household Size) and check the maximum allowable income on the table. (Note: adjusted gross income.)
