The next series of Bellevue Essentials classes are scheduled for Wednesday evenings, Sept. 20 - Nov. 15, 2023. Information sessions will be held in June and applications will be accepted until July 20 at 5 p.m.
Bellevue Essentials provides an 11-week introduction to civic leadership. The transformational program highlights the structure and daily operations of city government in Bellevue. Topics include demographics, public process, diversity, equity and inclusion, city planning, economic development, human services, utilities, finance and transportation, fire, police and more.
Graduates are well-equipped to get more involved in the city and nonprofit arenas on the Eastside and become members of the Bellevue Essentials Extended (BEES) alumni organization, a networking and civic engagement group.
Applicants must live or work in Bellevue and be committed to attending at least nine of the 11 sessions. Elected officials and candidates are not eligible to apply. The admission process involves a short application and three essay questions. Attendance at an information session is beneficial, but not required. It is recommended that you submit your application after attending an information session or viewing the Bellevue Essentials video.
