• ADA/Title VI Notices

    The City of Bellevue strives to ensure that its programs and facilities are accessible to all residents. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), efforts are made to accommodate people with disabilities. In accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the city offers the same services and programs to all, regardless of race, color, income, national origin or English proficiency.

    This website is designed to conform to the federally recognized Web Content Accessibility Guidelines developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). The city makes no warranty or representation with respect to the accessibility of sites linked to from this one.

    People with disabilities seeking accessibility to or accommodation in city facilities and/or programs can make a request on this page. All public accommodation requests for private businesses must be addressed to them. The U. S. Department of Justice enforces the ADA.

    Title VI of the Civil Rights Act

    People who have trouble speaking or understanding English can request interpreters for City Council meetings and other city events, public meetings or hearings. Contact the city staff listed with the event.

    Compliance: The City of Bellevue assures that no person shall be excluded from participation in or denied the benefits of any city program or activity on the grounds of race, color, national origin or sex, per Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes. Also, no person shall be subjected to discrimination per Title VI.

    Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act

    Title II, which applies to state and local governments, protects individuals from discrimination on the basis of disability in services, programs and activities provided by state and local government entities.

      As part of compliance with Title II of the ADA, the City of Bellevue is making available to the public its 2019 ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan. (23,190 KB)


        Complaint Procedures

        ADA Complaints

        Individuals who feel the city has not handled an accommodation request satisfactorily may file a complaint alleging discrimination on the basis of disability in the city's provision of services, activities, programs or benefits. All complaints should be presented in writing to the ADA coordinator.

        Please consult the ADA complaint guide for details. A formal complaint must be filed within 180 calendar days of the alleged occurrence. The city will not officially act or respond to complaints made verbally.

        Complaints regarding the acts or omissions of private businesses are administered by the U. S. Department of Justice. Such complaints must be made directly to the business or Department of Justice.

        Title VI Complaints

        If you believe that you have not been treated equally by the city because of your race, national origin, gender, disability, income or ability to speak English, then you have the right to file a discrimination complaint with the City of Bellevue. Print and fill out the form, then send it to bamson@bellevuewa.gov.

        This form allows residents and businesses to submit accessibility requests related to a wide variety of issues, including curb ramps, sidewalk obstructions and access to buildings, facilities and programs. The form will be reviewed by the ADA Title VI program administrator and a response will be provided via email.
