Transportation Demand Management promotes carpooling, vanpooling, transit, walking, biking, teleworking and flexible work hours. TDM activities focus on employers, employees, property managers, residents and visitors. The benefits to the community include maximizing the efficiency of existing transportation system and limiting the impacts of traffic on Bellevue neighborhoods. Reducing trips also reduces air and water pollution. The city maintains a website, ChooseYourWayBellevue.org, with information about transportation options and services to support employers, employees, residents and students.
TDM Plan
The TDM plan, which covers 2015 through 2023, offers strategies to support use of alternatives to driving alone. It helps people get around Bellevue more efficiently as the city grows and the transportation system evolves.
An update of the Bellevue TDM Plan is under way for 2024 through 2033. During this ten-year time frame, Bellevue will be home to several transformative transportation investments including the 2 Line (East Link light rail), the Eastrail trail corridor, I-405 bus rapid transit (BRT) and express toll lane expansion from Bellevue to Renton, and more.
Updating the TDM plan involves reviewing existing plans and programs, forming goals and targets, and assessing potential strategies to meet them. An implementation framework identifies partnerships and potential funding sources, including state and federal grants. The planning process draws on a substantial body of available data and best practices information, results of surveys, and public review and comment.
A public review draft is available for comment on the TDM Plan’s Engaging Bellevue page, in addition to several forum questions and space for general comments. Please visit Engaging Bellevue for more information.
