In an effort to ease this congestion, the state Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is adding capacity on Interstate 90 between the Eastgate interchange at 150th Avenue Southeast in Bellevue and the West Lake Sammamish Parkway interchange in Issaquah. Workers will repave the existing roadway shoulders to create auxiliary lanes. These lanes will be located on the outside of the existing lanes in both directions of I-90, adding capacity and accessibility to all travelers 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
WSDOT also will build sound walls along a section of the project next to the I-90 pedestrian and bicycle trail. Bellevue Transportation Department staff are coordinating with WSDOT to minimize traffic impacts on city streets.
