The Office of Emergency Management’s (OEM) primary mission is to strengthen city resilience by incorporating a whole community approach in our daily operations. We do this internally by coordinating training and exercises of emergency operations with all City Departments and externally by providing all hazards public education and volunteer opportunities to business and residents of Bellevue.

OEM works with our Regional partners to develop and exercise plans that support the City’s ability to prepare for, respond to, mitigate, and recover from all types of hazards and threats. Our Public Education program provides training and materials on:

    • Personal Preparedness

    • All-Hazards Specific Safety and Preparedness

    • Map Your Neighborhood (A Washington State program that helps residents identify capabilities in their neighborhood that could be essential in a disaster or emergency)

    • Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training

    • Volunteer Opportunities within the Fire Department include:

    • Citizen Corps Council

    • Bellevue Communications Support

    • Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)
