People who live or work in the Bellevue community call us for a variety of conflict situations they have with neighbors, parents, teens, landlords, tenants, co-workers, businesses, HOA issues, and so on. Basically, we handle most types of conflict except small claims, and divorce and parenting plans, Below are descriptions of our most common cases.
If your conflict relates to small claims or divorce/parenting plans, you can find a dispute resolution center that handles these at Resolution Washington.
The majority of our cases are between neighbors concerning a wide array of issues such as animals, noise, fences, vegetation, parking, children, untidiness, vacant houses, unhealthy/unsafe conditions, cultural differences, and so on.
In many cases there is a question whether there is a code violation. Our office works closely with Code Compliance, often referring cases to one another. If there is a question whether there is a violation, you can call Code Compliance at 425-452-2047, file a complaint through the MyBellevue customer assistance portal.
We help many homeowners associations and individual homeowners deal with a variety of disputes amongst them or with contractors, neighbors and property management companies. We can help you problem-solve, mediate between representatives of the HOA and others, or facilitate meetings that might benefit from a neutral facilitator.
We help parents and teens talk to each other about issues that arise between them. Adolescence is a challenging transition which changes the dynamic between parents and teens. We help you have a fair and balanced conversation about such issues as money, school, rules, chores, car use, dating, siblings, behavior, freedom, step-parents, responsibility, and communication. We do not take sides of make judgments.
It is important that both parent and teen agree to a mediation. if either does not want to mediate, we can help coach you in ways that you can help make the situation better yourself.
