Utility Rate and Tax Relief

The City of Bellevue has two programs to help low–income persons living within the service area of Bellevue Utilities. Check below to see if you qualify for one or both programs. For more information, please call 425-452-5285.

Utility Rate Relief
The City of Bellevue offers low–income seniors (62 and older) and low–income permanently disabled persons relief on their utility costs for water, wastewater and drainage.

Rate Relief offers up to 75 percent off utility costs for seniors and permanently disabled persons who meet specific residency and income guidelines. The form of relief and household income guidelines depend on how utility costs are paid:

If you pay a Bellevue utility bill directly, you may qualify for a rate reduction on your 2013 utility bills if your 2012 household income was $30,070 or less for one person, or $34,375 or less for two persons. If your utility costs have been paid through rent or other third party, you may qualify for a rate rebate check on 2012 utility costs if your 2011 household income was $29,480 or less for one person, or $33,700 or less for two persons. Utility Rate Relief Rebate Guidelines and Application

Applications must be received by Bellevue Utilities at City Hall by 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013. Late or incomplete applications cannot be processed.

NOTE: If you qualify for the 2013 Utility Rate Relief Program, you automatically qualify for the Utility Tax Relief described below.

Utility Tax Relief
Bellevue’s Tax Relief Program offers a year-end rebate check for a portion of the utility occupation taxes paid to the city. This program is open to persons living within the service area of Bellevue Utilities that meet low–income guidelines.

Program guidelines and applications for the 2013 Tax Relief Program will be available in October 2013. Tax Rebate checks are mailed to qualified applicants in late December 2013.
