NPDES Program
To protect water quality, Bellevue manages stormwater runoff in a number of ways. The city follows "best management" practices and operates under a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Phase II Municipal Stormwater Permit issued by the state Department of Ecology in January 2007. This permit is a requirement of the Federal Clean Water Act.
The best management practices in the permit are collectively referred to as the NPDES Stormwater Management Program. They include actions that educate the public and encourage non-polluting behaviors:
Bellevue is required to report on these actions through an annual report and accompanying stormwater management plan. Details of the required actions can be found in the permit document below.
