Typical questions at City Hall include: What permits and licenses are required? What is the right sequence of steps to get through the application and review processes? Are there any small business help resources? Restaurant owners face many (related but different) types of requirements related to such things as the health code, food handler regulations, fire protection, parking and land use.

The Licenses and Permits page is the place to start for registering your business with the city and the state. Restaurants are classified as “eating and drinking establishments,” and are allowed in most commercial zones in Bellevue. The Development Services Department can help with all permitting and inspections, addressing everything from building improvements and zoning to fire sprinklers and grease interceptors.
