Northeast Sixth Street Extension
The Northeast Sixth Street Extension Project is part of the Wilburton Connections package of projects. It’s planned to work in conjunction with the other two projects (extending Northeast Fourth Street and widening 120th Avenue Northeast), providing better connections, especially for transit and carpools, between downtown, the Bel-Red corridor and the Overlake area.

The project will extend the existing transit and carpool ramp, which is accessible to and from Interstate 405 in both directions, eastward from the middle of the freeway. The new road would extend above the northbound lanes of Interstate 405 and 116th Avenue Northeast to a new intersection at 120th Avenue Northeast.
Transit and carpool vehicles would be allowed on the new segment from 112th Avenue Northeast to the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe railroad corridor; all types of traffic would be allowed between the BNSF corridor and 120th Avenue Northeast. More about the project, including information on funding and environmental impacts, along with a map, is provided in the project description sheet.
When finished, the Northeast Sixth Street extension is anticipated to relieve congestion at intersections nearby. Improvements will reduce travel time and increase mobility options for passenger cars, transit, freight, pedestrians and bicycles.
