120th Avenue Northeast Widening Stage 1
The 120th Avenue NE (Stage 1) project is part of the Mobility & Infrastructure Initiative (M&II). The M&II was developed to encourage economic vitality and support planned growth and redevelopment in the Bel-Red and Wilburton areas. Combined with the improvements on Northeast Eighth, Sixth and Fourth streets, widening 120th Avenue Northeast is intended to accommodate future growth and increase connectivity between downtown, the Bel-Red corridor and the Overlake area.

Planned Improvements
The 120th Avenue NE (Stage 1) project will widen 120th Avenue NE to five lanes, including two travel lanes in each direction with a center turn lane, turn pockets or planted medians, beginning south of NE 4th Street to south of NE 8th Street. The project will improve, or install where missing, bike lanes, curb, gutter and sidewalk on both sides, a traffic signal at the NE 60th Street intersection, illumination, landscaping, irrigation, storm drainage and detention. The following are the plans for the project:
Current Status
Construction is anticipated to start Summer 2013 and wrap up in 2014. In anticipation of the city's project, various utility relocations and a joint utility trench will be constructed by Puget Sound Energy and others starting Spring 2013.
