Two important infrastructure projects commencing this week will have significant traffic impacts on city streets.
Bellevue Way and Northeast Eighth intersection
Crews will begin sewer repair work at the intersection of Bellevue Way and Northeast Eighth Street at 9 p.m., Friday, Aug. 17, and continue through the weekend around the clock until Sunday night or early Monday morning. On Tuesday evening, Aug. 21, grinding and overlay is planned at the intersection (date subject to change).
All businesses will be open during construction, and "Local Access Only" signs will be posted to allow drivers access to shops and restaurants at Bellevue Square and Lincoln Square. During construction, the northbound lane on Bellevue Way at Northeast Eighth Street will be closed at this intersection, as well as the eastbound lane on Northeast Eighth, between 102nd and Bellevue Way, with access to Bellevue Square.
The Northeast Fourth Street exit may be a better choice than Northeast Eighth for those wanting to access downtown from Interstate 405. Residents and businesses can expect construction noise and traffic impacts, which will include road and lane closures and detours around work sites. Please follow marked detours and drive safely.
Questions about the project should be directed to Stephen Noeske (firstname.lastname@example.org or 425-452-5271).
Repaving on Northeast Eighth Street, from 124th to 140th Avenue
Beginning today and continuing through Sunday, Aug. 26, paving crews will work on Northeast Eighth Street between 124th and 140th avenues Northeast from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. During work hours there will be only one travel lane in each direction while the roadway is prepared for repaving.
On Saturday, Aug. 18, the westbound lanes will be closed for repaving and on Saturday, Aug. 25, the eastbound lanes will be closed for repaving. Drivers are encouraged to find an alternate east/west route to avoid traffic delays. Traffic flaggers and detour signs will help drivers navigate through the work zone. This work is weather-dependent.
This work is part of the city's annual overlay program. Questions should be directed to Teresa Becker, 425-452-7942 or email@example.com
