BELLEVUE – The windstorm that wreaked so much destruction to the power grid did a number of Bellevue's parks as well. Fallen trees made many trails impassable and forced the closure of Meydenbauer Beach Park.
The Seattle Civic Christmas Ship welcome celebration scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 21, has been cancelled.
Utilities and Transportation crews were able to clear all Bellevue arterials by Wednesday morning. However, more than a dozen neighborhood streets, where fallen trees were wrapped in power lines, were still closed. All traffic lights were working again, with several hooked up to generators.
Information will continue to change as assessment of roadway conditions continue. The Transportation Department is using generators to power traffic signals at essential intersections, but some traffic lights remain dark. Please treat intersections without power as four-way stops.
Streets have been closed for your safety, so do not drive around barricades. Police are citing drivers who ignore road closure signs or barricades. Please be advised that closed roads do not all have “road closed” or “detour” signs; there are too many locations at the moment to manage.
