City offers child care resources during strike

With Bellevue School District teachers on strike, the city is keeping the doors open at the South Bellevue Community Center for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Bellevue's expanded child care day camp.  Pre-registration is required. To register for this camp, call 425-452-4240.

The city is also providing childcare at Crossroads Community Center. Pre-registration is required.  Parents can register online for the Parks day camps at My Parks and Recreation (click on "things to do" and search for "child care"), or in person at City Hall or any of Bellevue's community centers. Filled out waivers, medication authorizations and child information forms must be brought with children to the day camp.

Details:

  • The Boys and Girls Clubs of Bellevue's expanded day camp is open at South Bellevue Community Center, 14509 SE Newport Way, for elementary-age children, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The cost is $40 per day ($20 if already enrolled in Project Learn after-school program). Campers will need to bring their own lunch, but snacks are provided. For registration information, call 425-452-4240.

  • Day camps are also being provided at Crossroads Community Center, 16000 NE 10th St., for children ages 5-12, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The cost is $40 per day; scholarships are available. Campers will need to bring their own lunch, but snacks are provided. Space is limited and camps will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. As noted above, registration is required.

Other child care options are also available.

Additional city support and response will be evaluated based on the longevity of the strike and available resources.
