Planning Commission

Residents and other stakeholders had multiple opportunities to provide feedback on the shoreline management update through Bellevue's Planning Commission, residents who served as an advisory panel for the City Council. The Planning Commission reviewed work products, provided input and guidance related to the development of goals, policies and regulations, and served as a preliminary approval board. Agendas for Planning Commission meetings in which the shoreline management update was addressed are available below.

Open Houses and Other Events

April 20, 2011 Open House: City Hall, 6-8 pm
Residents had an opportunity to learn more about the regulatory requirements and receive guidance on how to provide meaningful input to the Planning Commission on the draft. Staff and commission members were on hand to describe the draft SMP and answer questions. Displays and handouts were available to aid in the conversation.

May 21, 2009 Open House: Residents were introduced to the shoreline management plan update effort at City Hall, with an invitation to envision Bellevue's shorelines 20 years from now.

Feb. 25, 2009 Open House: Staff provided information about the shoreline management update process, including guidelines and schedule.

Boat Tour: On September 20, 2008, more than 50 people joined the Planning Commission and City Council member Patsy Bonincontri for a boat tour of the Lake Washington shoreline. The varied nature of the lake’s shoreline lends itself well to discussions of land uses, public access, piers, bulkheads, stormwater runoff, invasive vegetation and property setbacks. The tour is featured in an October 2008 It's Your City video.
