Senior citizens will be celebrated at the Bellevue Farmers Market on Saturday, Sept. 12. In addition to the usual local produce and flowers, the market will feature information and entertainment geared for older adults.
The Bellevue Farmers Market, at 410 Bellevue Way NE, across from Bellevue Square, is open Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., through Nov. 21, and Thursdays, 3 to 7 p.m., through Oct. 15. Senior Day is sponsored by the Bellevue Network on Aging, a city panel that promotes awareness of the needs of older adults.
Information will be provided by several local agencies that serve older adults, including: Hopelink, Evergreen Home Health, the Eastside Heritage Society, the Overlake Service League, the Seattle Humane Society, Sunrise Assisted Living, Visiting Nurse Services, Senior Services, SeniorNet and Home Instead Senior Care.
For entertainment, there will be cooking and garden demonstrations and live music.
The Bellevue Farmers Market, dedicated to supporting farmland preservation, small family farms and small businesses, is certified to accept WIC Farmers Market nutrition coupons and senior coupons.
