The cities of SeaTac and Renton are now offering online permits for simple mechanical, plumbing and re-roof work through MyBuildingPermit.com, a regional permitting portal. MyBuildingPermit.com now serves 16 cities and Snohomish County.
"We are delighted to offer MyBuildingPermit.com as another expansion to the city's online web-based services," said Renton Mayor Denis Law. "By expediting the permitting process for building professionals, the online permitting system helps us fulfill our goal of providing high-quality service to our community and continuing to make Renton a great place to invest and do business. We are able to use Internet technology to make permitting more convenient, increase efficiency and enhance the level of service to our residents, businesses, and potential investors."
MyBuildingPermit.com, a building permit service portal provided by the eCityGov Alliance, serves a regional population of more than 800,000 citizens. Contractors and citizens can use the web portal to obtain any number of simple permits from member jurisdictions with a single transaction. The site also offers online inspection scheduling, permit status and provides access to a library of construction tip sheets, inspection check-lists and other construction related resources.
"The City of SeaTac has been considering Internet services, particularly online permits, for sometime but the time and expense of implementing such a service was too great for the city," said Craig Ward, city manager for SeaTac. "Now, thanks to the eCityGov Alliance, not only are these services affordable, it is a huge benefit to our citizens and businesses."
The award-winning MyBuildingPermit.com is the first multi-jurisdictional permit portal of its kind in the nation. In addition to the cities of SeaTac and Renton, participating jurisdictions include the cities of Kenmore, Bothell, Woodinville, Kirkland, Mercer Island, Issaquah, Sammamish, Snoqualmie, Bellevue, Burien, Mill Creek, Duvall, Gig Harbor, Mukilteo and Snohomish County.
