The Bellevue City Council is seeking candidates for a vacancy on the Parks & Community Services Board.
Comprised of seven Bellevue residents, the Parks Board advises the City Council on parks and open space issues as well as policies regarding community services. Members are appointed by the mayor with the concurrence of the City Council.
The successful candidate will fill a vacated term that expires May 31, 2011. At the conclusion of the current term, the position will be eligible for reappointment to an additional four-year term.
Parks & Community Services Board duties include:
- Park planning, design and construction
- Development, redevelopment, and renovation
- Enterprise management
- Natural resources, land stewardship and environmental education.
The Board also advises the City Council on policies regarding community services issues such as:
- Recreation opportunities for a wide range of interests, ages and abilities.
- Cultural diversity.
- Community centers.
- Parks & Community Services Department-related special events.
- Probation services
Meetings, unless otherwise noted, are on the second Tuesday of each month, 6 p.m., City Hall, Council Conference Room (1E-113).
Interested citizens can submit an online community service application. They can also pick up an application at City Hall, from the City Clerk's Office or the Service First Center. The Bellevue Regional Library, the Lake Hills Library and Mini City Hall at Crossroads Bellevue all have applications available. You may also request that a form be faxed to you by phoning 452-6466.
