A fire Tuesday night damaged a house being remodeled in Northeast Bellevue. No one is living in home while it is under construction, but the blaze caused an estimated $150,000 damage to the house and an attached garage.
Neighbors by the home, on the 1700 block of 172nd Place Northeast, reported the fire at 10 p.m., saying they heard popping noises and then saw flames coming from the garage.
Bellevue and Redmond firefighters responded and, with a total of four fire engines and one ladder truck, they doused the fire before there was structural damage. There was significant smoke and heat damage in the garage. A door had yet to be installed between the garage and the rest of the house, so the damage spread throughout the home, in the latter stages of remodeling.
The homeowner and contractor arrived on the scene and surveyed the damage.
A Bellevue Fire investigator began investigating the fire Tuesday night. No preliminary cause had been determined.
