Northeast 15th/16th Street
Northeast 15th/16th Street will be the centerpiece for the transformation of the Bel-Red area from a mainly light industrial area to a mixed-use corridor served by a variety of travel options.
The Northeast 15th/16th Street Multi-Modal Corridor project (Segment 1), 116th to 124th Avenues Northeast, is one of several high-priority city investments designed to address planned growth and development in the Bel-Red and Wilburton areas. It's being planned in conjunction with several improvements that are part of the Wilburton Connections project.
Northeast 15th/16th Street is designed to integrate a variety of elements, including transportation amenities (for walking, cycling and driving), urban design, green space and plazas. It will also accommodate regional trail connections and the future East Link light rail line, along with two light rail stations. A separate web page provides information about planning for the future light rail station at 130th Avenue Northeast .
The Northeast 15th Street project is currently progressing through the conceptual design engineering phase. The project budget of $1 million (as of May 2010) allows for continued engineering work on the Northeast 15th Street corridor plan. Additional funding would be needed to complete the engineering work for the segment from 116th to 124th Avenue Northeast.
