The Mobility and Infrastructure Initiative is a group of transportation investments in the downtown, west Wilburton and Bel-Red areas intended to respond to increased traffic spurred by downtown development and growth anticipated in the Bel-Red area. The City Council chose these projects because they can have the greatest impact reducing congestion.

Funding limitations delay projects
Due to a decrease in anticipated funding for the M&I initiative, some projects will be delayed. On May 9, 2011, the City Council agreed to move forward on three projects, approving a continuation of design work on the Northeast Fourth Street Extension, 120th Avenue Northeast Widening Segment 1 and 120th Avenue Northeast Widening Segments 2 and 3.
The council will continue to discuss funding for the initiative through the summer of 2011. In the fall, staff will present the council with a project status report, including updated costs and timelines. At that time, staff will seek authorization to proceed with property acquisition for Northeast Fourth Street extension and 120th Avenue Stage 2, and to obtain approval to proceed with construction of 120th Avenue Northeast Segment 1.
