Bellevue's "Magic Season" has arrived, with the Garden d'Lights at the Bellevue Botanical Garden and the Group Health Ice Arena at Downtown Park both drawing crowds. Peek at the goings-on at the city's Flickr site.
The Garden d'Lights, at 12001 Main St., is open nightly through Jan. 2, 5 to 10 p.m. More than 500,000 colored lights fashioned into flower and animal shapes, are on display. Admission is free, but donations are gladly accepted.
There is a $5 charge for parking at the Botanical Garden during the hours of the Garden d'Lights, but free parking is available at Wilburton Hill Park and the school district’s nearby headquarters and service center. The Botanical Garden offers more information, call 425-452-2750.
The area's only outdoor skating rink, at Northeast First Street and 102nd Avenue Northeast, is open daily through Jan. 10 (Except Dec. 25).
Free skating lessons and a series of holiday events are scheduled. Admission to the rink, produced by the Bellevue Downtown Association, is $10 and includes skate rentals.
