Land Use Code Amendment
The East Link light rail line will extend six miles through Bellevue, crossing several land-use districts. The city code was not drafted with light rail in mind, so clear requirements and standards are lacking.
To clarify permitting for the project, the city is considering adding a light rail "overlay district" to Bellevue's land use code. The overlay district would have design and other standards specifically for light rail, and eliminate the need to make extensive changes throughout the land use code. The City Council is expected to take final action on the amendment in February.
