Sound Transit will host an open house Thursday at Bellevue City Hall to present four new downtown routes being considered for light rail. The event will be 4 to 7 p.m. on the first-floor concourse.
Sound Transit's East Link project team will report on conceptual designs and analysis of the new proposed routes, which were developed after outside expert review and requests from the Bellevue City Council.
Last week the council and Sound Transit Board of Directors had a joint workshop at Meydenbauer Center to discuss the new downtown routes under consideration. The choices include two street-level alternatives, one elevated alternative and one tunnel alternative. Two earlier options identified last May continue to be studied.
East Link, approved by voters in 2008 as part of a regional ST2 package of transit projects, includes the extension of light rail from Seattle, across Lake Washington to Bellevue and on to the Overlake Transit Center in Redmond. Sound Transit is scheduled to make a final decision on an East Link route through Bellevue by early 2011.
