Thomas Marriott, a top jazz trumpeter, will perform at City Hall on April 30 as part of the Bellevue Jazz Festival. Marriott, whose 2007 release, "Both Sides of the Fence," won awards for best instrumentalist and best album, will play in the concourse from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
The Bellevue Jazz Festival, sponsored by Puget Sound Energy, U.S. Bank, KPLU 88.5, KBCS 91.3 FM, Columbia Winery and Southwest Airlines, features free performances on Wednesday evenings, April 9 to May 14, at a variety of locations around downtown Bellevue. Wine and appetizers may be purchased at all of the Jazz Festival concerts.
Tickets are on sale online for two headline shows, by the Branford Marsalis Quartet on May 23 and the Spanish Harlem Orchestra on May 24. Tickets will also be available at participating QFC and Rudy’s Barbershop stores.
The lineup of talent from this area and beyond includes vocalists Greta Matassa and Gail Pettis, percussionist Ben Thomas, Gypsy jazz band Pearl Django and the Brazilian jazz trio Jovino Santos Neto. They will perform at venues including the Bellevue Arts Museum, the KeyCenter and Civica Office Commons.
