The state Department of Transportation has been working on several congestion relief projects on Interstate 405 as part of its I-405 Corridor Program. A summary of the corridor master plan provides further details. In Bellevue, projects include:
The I-405, Northeast Eighth Street to SR 520 Braided Crossing project is scheduled to start construction in 2010 and be completed in 2012. A diagram of the project provides details.
The I-405, South Bellevue Widening project , which added one new northbound lane from 112th Avenue Southeast to Southeast Eighth Street and a new southbound lane from Southeast Eighth Street to I-90, was completed in November 2009.
The I-405, Northeast 10th Street Bridge project extended Northeast 10th Street from 112th Avenue Northeast across I-405 to 116th Avenue Northeast. It was completed in November 2009.
The I-405, Access Downtown project, though not part of the I-405 Corridor Program, included a new interchange at Northeast Sixth Street for buses, carpools and vanpools, and improved interchange access at Northeast Fourth Street, Northeast Eighth Street, and Southeast Eighth Street. It was completed in December 2004.
