Fire damages Newport Shores home

Bellevue firefighters and crews from other cities responded to a house fire Thursday evening, December 19, in the Newport Shores neighborhood in the southwest part of the city, near Lake Washington. The house was unoccupied at the time.

At 7:13 p.m. the Bellevue Fire Department received multiple reports of the fire. Firefighters arrived within two minutes and found the rear part of the two-story building in flames, with heavy smoke elsewhere in the house.

The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes and companies from Bellevue, Mercer Island, Kirkland and Eastside Fire and Rescue were able to keep the blaze from spreading to nearby houses. No one was hurt fighting the fire. Bellevue Police assisted with traffic control and security.

Damage to the house is estimated at more than $300,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
